Situation

Cyclopark, a charity-focused recreational facility, struggled to increase visitor engagement, enhance fundraising potential, and establish itself as a key sporting and public health venue in the region.

Task

My role was to identify key areas for improvement through heuristic reviews and stakeholder interviews. The goal was to devise both tactical (quick wins) and strategic (long-term) solutions to boost Cyclopark’s visibility, user engagement, and fundraising capabilities.

Action

Usability assessment
Conducted heuristic reviews of the Cyclopark website to identify usability and engagement challenges.

  • Brainstorming for solutions
Led brainstorming sessions using "How might we?" questions to explore potential improvements in visitor engagement, fundraising, and public health contributions.

  • Stakeholder collaboration
Worked closely with Cyclopark representatives to understand their needs, challenges, and aspirations for the facility.

  • Actionable insights
Synthesised feedback into clear, actionable insights, categorising them into quick tactical actions (e.g., improving website CTAs and visibility) and long-term strategic initiatives (e.g., enhancing charity status awareness and building partnerships).

  • Key recommendations
Suggested implementing specific features such as a prominent "Donate NOW" button, better visibility for the Cyclopark Charity Trust, and more robust social media usage to drive awareness and engagement.

Results

(Ongoing Project)

  • Positive initial feedback
The client has responded positively to the proposed changes. Once fully implemented, these changes are expected to increase visitor engagement and fundraising capabilities.

  • Enhanced user experience
The anticipated improvements in website navigation and content strategies should lead to better visitor retention and increased donation actions.

  • Long-term impact
The strategic initiatives aim to position Cyclopark as a leading community and public health partner in the region, potentially increasing its self-sufficiency in fundraising and visitor numbers.
